My name is Christina and my son, Evan was born about on 9/7/07. He had
Trisomy 13 and past away almost 7 1/2 months ago. He lived for 16 days and
I was very happy to have him home for 14 days. It was a struggle to watch
him struggle but I wouldn't change it.
It was at my last ultrasound where the technician saw his additional finger
and toes, and enlarged kidney, and a missing heart valve. This lead my
husband and I to a specialist in Seattle who discovered my son had the 13th
chromosome throughout his body. My husband and my heart broke when we heard
that he wouldn't survive the birth or at least die within the hour or day of
life.
I was devastated to hear this about our first child. However, I am so
happy to given birth to him. I cherish the moments we had from Evans first
and last breath.
He was a special boy and I miss him deeply everyday. The grieving process
has been difficult and I wish my son was still here. But I finally had the
courage to speak about my experience with my son and would like to join this
organization to share and maybe help others who are experiencing it today.
I would also love to share my son with other families who understand the
pain and joy of having a child with Trisomy 13.
Thank you,
Christina
