 Our names are Adelina, Mihail, Natalia (6 1/2 years old) and Antonia
(2 years old) Traista.
Natalia was born on August 13, 2002 in Romania . She was
diagnosed with partial trisomy 13 when she was 15 months old.
(Originally she was misdiagnosed with trisomy 22 after 6 months we
had her retested in Belgium and that diagnosis was partial trisomy
13.) She was born with six fingers on both hands and low muscle
tone. Natalia had surgery when she was 7 months olds to remove her
extra fingers. She started to walk when she was 3 years old.
Overall Natalia is in good health, however she does have seizures..
She takes Carbamazepine for her seizures. She does have coloboma of
the iris in her left eye. Her vocabulary is limited; however she
does produce mama tata water egg and babbles in her own language.
Natalia’s receptive language is much higher than her expressive
language. She use to have difficulties sleeping and takes melatonin
to help. She is now sleeping better (with or without the melatonin).
Natalia loves playing with her little sister and she also enjoys
swimming, dancing, and music. She is a very friendly little girl,
but her favorite thing to do is tease others and then she laughs.
We moved from Romania to Wales , UK when Natalia was 5 years 8
months. This is where she started school and she is very happy.
Since the move Natalia has grown and is thriving. Natalia has
changed our lives and we love her very much!
