Fort Myers, Florida (FL) - Translocation Trisomy 13

Michael Mason was born in Fort Myers Fla. on Sept 15 1984 at Lee County hospital.  He was born 4 weeks early and was diagnosed 6 weeks later.

They knew he was a trisomy 13 but sent labs out, we were scared to death, we were far away from home {we're from Stoneham MA.} we moved to Fla in 1980.

They told me he was going to die, so just take him home and love him. I saw 18 different Dr.'s,  Not one had a kind word to say. I flew back to Boston where we saw the nicest Genetic Specialists at Franciscan Hospital and thought he was wonderful!  I asked  when he was going to die?  They said:  "What is he going to die from?"  I shared what they told me in Fla.

The Doctors through Franciscan Hospital said; "He was a healthy young boy and looked wonderful."  I could finally relax and enjoy him and he is the most wonderful child you could ever meet!!

He is a very happy child and lives close to us at New England
Pediatric nursing home in Billerica, MA.

He is the love of our lives, he has an older brother and younger sister

Sue
