Our baby boy Samuel was born at 9am on 5 April 2010, 3 days before his due date. He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and apart from his cleft lip and palate looked perfect. He was with us for 55 very precious hours, during which he had lots of cuddles, got to meet his family and friends and to come home before passing away peacefully. I'm so glad and grateful that we had this time with him.

Although Samuel's life could only be measured in hours he has had a big impact on our lives and our house feels empty without him.

Knowing that his life was not a mistake, that his days and purpose were planned and that we will meet again one day has made this journey so much easier.

He has made it safely to heaven and didn’t bump himself on the ceiling on his way up, as his big brother Ben was worried he might. Samuel is greatly missed and will always be part of our family.

We found out that Samuel, our sixth child, has trisomy 13 at the 19-week scan (confirmed by an amnio). It's been an incredibly hard time but we have been surrounded by very supportive and loving family and friends and have gradually come to a stage of peace and acceptance.

At the last scan 2 weeks ago the doctor was surprised to see that Samuel was growing normally and that heart abnormalities previously seen had disappeared. He's a really active little boy and we're looking forward to meeting him very soon.
